Meet Meg & Al-John
Welcome to We Live in Cape Town! Our local travel blog about living in Cape Town and traveling from the Mother City. We’re so pleased so many people are curious about South Africa and are starting to come and visit us. There’s no place like the Mother City and we really hope to inspire you with our personal travels, life in Cape Town and passion for the arts.
MORE ABOUT US…
We’re so glad you’re here.
Meg works as a Junior Paid Media director in a global agency, while Al-John is a Discord Manager for a Video Game company by day and Drum & Bass DJ by night.
Having blogged for 10 years previously, the pandemic gave us the opportunity to consider what we really want to do with our free time – and lives! Considering travel was banned, we were looking back at some of our best memories and realised that travelling really is the gift that keeps on giving.
Coming from a country with a weak currency, but a high quality of life, it also made our needs as South African travellers slightly different. With a strong focus on value, this dictates a lot of our travel decisions and we wanted to share some of those tips and experiences with you.
Working full time, we also appreciate how precious those 15 – 20 days of paid leave are per year and hope to share how we make the most of it with others who are also balancing their work-life ambitions.
Lastly, we’re proudly Capetonian. Meg actually split her childhood time between Namibia and Cape Town; with Al-John being a Sea Point boy through and through.
Cape Town has gained mass popularity on the international market and we’re here to share what the locals actually get up to – if you’re interested in exploring a little further out.
