Independent Pizza Shops in Cape Town

This is for the small businesses, the family run businesses, the “gave up corporate for a dream” businesses. All of these pizza restaurants deliver delicious, more artisanal pizzas and morsels.

Borruso’s *

Borruso’s has been going for almost as long as Butler’s Pizza and it’s a restaurant worth mentioning. Tucked away on Kenilworth Main Road, Borruso’s feels like you’re squished in Nona’s warm kitchen with friends and family. I love the Adam’s Special pizza which includes brie and pear, as well as their lasagne. Their lasagne may be a little polarising, but I absolutely love the sweetness of their marinara sauce.

Bacinni’s*

We love Bacini’s on Kloof as it has easy, convenient parking at the back and gorgeous views under Lion’s Head. It’s family run and you can feel the attention to detail and quality of produce in every bite. Post pandemic, it has become a little more expenny, but the quality of ingredients and service remains intact.

Nonna Lina

Nonna Lina focuses on their Sicilian heritage and has been in Cape Town for 21 years as of 2024! They’re in the gardens and is a popular corner Italian restaurant. Find it on Orange Street.

NOVO

Novo is the new kid on the pizza block. Just off Durban road in Mowbray, they create delicious, wood-fired pizzas shaped by the seasons. Think simple, but delicious ingredients including chorizo, pepperoni, anchovy, pistachio, honey, artichokes, paired in new ways. Visit to explore for yourself.

Posticino’s

Posticino’s was first loved in Sea Point and has expanded to a few stores in recent years. We’ve often have the southern suburbs x town fight about the best pizza and Posticino’s was a first favourite of the town crew.

The Woodlands eatery

This is a favourite on the edges of the city with local residents of Vredehoek, Gardens and Oranjezicht. Consistently supported, this duplex Italian restaurant has a mix of Italian standards – except their pizza is square! Enjoy the Woodlands Eatery for a festive, early evening.

Bardelli’s

Another Cape Town institution in the Southern Suburbs. Tucked around the corner from Fat Harry’s in Kenilworth, Bardelli’s is a long time favourite Italian restaurant serving fresh pizzas.
